Aquatic Physical Therapy

About Treatment

Aquatic Physical Therapy is an exercise program performed in water environment and is seen to be effective in patients with Fibromyalgia, Chronic Pain, and Arthritis.

Exercise in the warm water environment improves: peripheral circulation, promotes general relaxation, alleviates pain and improves balance and trunk stability. It is also known to produce short and long term therapeutic effects.

Physical properties of water like hydrostatic pressure, water temperature, turbulence, viscosity and pressure drag combine to improve:

  •   Cardiovascular stamina
  •   Muscle strength
  •   Flexibility and range of motion

By taking advantage of buoyancy, exercising in water can eliminate the effect of body weight and hence patients who are unable to exercise on land can achieve better rehabilitative results.
